A generous nature.

Mary was a key member of the team at Wandle Industrial Museum for many years. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness of local heritage and her knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication to the museum and its subject matter was legendary, as were her wonderful cakes and launch buffets. Her talks and printing sessions helped to engage generations of local youngsters with the history of the Wandle in a fun and friendly way. In recent years she was also a great support to my colleagues at Merton Priory Trust.

Mary was a lovely lady. From my own perspective, she was a great source of support and assistance, always willing to loan items from her collection for Heritage Centre displays, giving talks and sharing resources for our sensory projects.
I also remember her having a dry sense of humour and a twinkle in her eye – as shown when I was introducing her at a Heritage Discovery Day and made a legendary gaffe – rather than being annoyed, she just roared with laughter.
She will be sadly missed and I send my condolences to her family and friends.
